Society integration in Jelgava

 

Jelgava city municipality is active in the Society Integration Commission activities since 2002.

The main tasks shall be the following:

  1. The society integration process must provide local support and coordination with the relevant State institutions and non-governmental organizations;
  2. The society integration support non-governmental organizations and individuals to encourage the involvement of non-governmental organizations;
  3. To facilitate the naturalization process and to contribute to the increase in the prestige of Latvian citizenship;
  4. Within the framework of their competence, to provide the necessary assistance to non-citizens in topical issues in relation to their integration into the society of Latvia or incases of infringement of rights;
  5. Perform the society integration process forecasting, as well as, if necessary, propose the necessary amendments for the society integration program of Jelgava;
  6. To analyze information of implementation of the society integration program progress and regarding after the City Council request once a year to report.

 

 

Regulatory documents of integration process in Jelgava

  • Development of the Society integration program and Action plan (2005 – 2007 years);
  • Designed Jelgava Society integration program (2008 - 2013) and the action plan of the project (2008 – 2010 years). Within this program framework city society of integration policy in Jelgava for following breakdown:
    • Promoting civic participation;
    • Access to education;
    • Cultural availability;
    • Sports availability;
    • Social integration;
    • Ethnic diversity;
    • Religious diversity.

 

 

In 2013, the society integration main areas of action were integrated into the Jelgava city development 2004. – 2020.

 The society integration main areas of action:

  • Promoting civil participation;
  • Equal opportunities of access to the education, sport and cultural services;
  • Promoting social inclusion;
  • Ensure equal opportunities in the social field including people with disabilities;
  • Promoting the integration of ethnic groups;
  • The development of voluntary work.
